What is Death Race 2050 all about?

In 2050, the world has changed. With an unemployment rate of 99.993% and an overpopulation problem in the United States, the Death Race offers entertainment and population management. Reigning Death Race champion Frankenstein is in the running for this year's title. Jed Perfectus, Minerva Jefferson, Tammy the Terrorist, and ABE, a black, artificially intelligent, self-driving automobile, struggle against Frankenstein in this action-adventure game. The race is presented in virtual reality, with an audience member acting as a surrogate for the driver. It doesn't take long for Frankenstein to get annoyed with his proxy, Annie Sullivan, and he dismisses her interview requests as well as her advice to allow his opponents to bypass him.

Rebels headed by former network producer Alexis Hamilton install traps around the sector as the racers sprint along the East Coast. When Tammy and Minerva kidnap each other's cult members for kills, they establish a bitter rivalry. ABE malfunctions after falling into a rebel trap, killing its surrogate and abandoning the race to find its purpose in life. Hamilton instructs Annie, who is revealed to be her spy, to murder Frankenstein at the first checkpoint. Her effort to attract him fails since he is just interested on winning the race. The Chairman says that because of his longevity, Frankenstein has become a burden, but Perfectus will inspire his dedicated supporters to die at his hands.

On Day 2 of the race, the competitors will make their way through the country's heartland, an area that is well-known for its large population of gun owners. A suicide bomber that was dispatched by Tammy to murder Chi Wapp, who was acting as Minerva's proxy, was successful. When Frankenstein tries to shave some time off of another tip, his automobile winds up getting stranded in a cornfield. Frankenstein fights off a squad of Resistance ninjas in order to rack up extra points while Annie goes out on her own. Annie reveals that she is a member of the resistance when they reach the second checkpoint and makes an effort to enlist Frankenstein. Frankenstein is uninterested in politics, and during the race he curses both the rebels and the government, insisting that his only objective is to come out on top. Minerva tells Annie that in order to maintain her cover as a stereotyped hip-hop persona and keep her job, she is really an educated intellectual. The revelation takes place at a pub. Annie saves Frankenstein's life when she returns to his chamber after he has been attacked by Perfectus, who is envious of Frankenstein's notoriety and sex appeal. It has come to light, in the meanwhile, that Hamilton and the Chairman have been conspiring together behind the scenes.

On Day 3 of the race, the government gives the drivers "approved" routes to take so they can avoid attacks from the Resistance. Frankenstein's right arm was hurt when he fought Perfectus, so Annie helps him change gears. Minerva tries to catch Tammy, but Tammy's suicide attempt makes Minerva fall off a cliff. Tammy is happy about Minerva's death until an ABE comes back, hits her against the wall, and then blows itself up. This kills them both. Hamilton and her rebels are killed by Frankenstein and Annie, while Perfectus takes a secret path to the finish line. Both cars try to get ahead until Perfectus loses control of his and crashes into the control booth for virtual reality. Before crossing the finish line, Frankenstein sends a message to his fans suggesting that the Chairman himself is worth 1,000 points. After Frankenstein kills the Chairman, the crowd cheers. He then tells them to stop living in a virtual world and start their own Death Race. As the country falls into violent chaos, Frankenstein and Annie watch from a distance and suggest that they should repopulate the country after the chaos has stopped.

Death Race 2050 was created in what way?

When an Italian journalist observed that The Hunger Games reminded him of Death Race 2000 during an interview with director Robert Corman, the concept for a sequel to the first film was born. To bring back the dark humor of his original, Corman approached Universal Pictures, the studio behind the current remake (which, in Corman's opinion, omitted much too much of the original's political commentary). There's no longer any mention of the murder of pedestrians or themes of a fractured society, according to Corman.

Filming started while Corman was in his late eighties and coincided with the 2016 presidential election in the United States. It stars an entrepreneur who is now the Chairman of the United Corporations of America. "The president does have a hair style that may be approaching Trump's hair style," Corman told an interviewer, "but I don't want to go too deep into that because Trump will come and go, but the picture will endure."

Did everyone like seeing Death Race 2050?

"There are a number of Death Races in a movie series about the Death Race coming to an end. After Jason Statham's Death Race trilogy in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Roger Corman returns to direct Death Race 2050. While both films were enjoyable in their own right, they bore little resemblance to the original 1970s B-movie Death Race 2000. So Corman gets this out-of-control burning disaster back on track Roger Corman's Death Race 2050 by organizing a three-day race across a dystopian America, where pedestrian killings earn points for over-the-top personalities! But this time, the title includes a 50." - Youtube critic Decker Shado

The movie was made available in the United States on DVD and as part of a combination DVD/Blu-ray release that included included three behind-the-scenes documentaries: The Making of 2050, The Look of 2050, and Cars! Oh my my, the cars! On March 20, 2017, it was made available to the public in the United Kingdom.

Based on eight reviews with an average rating of 6.8 out of 10, the movie currently has an approval rating on rottentomatoes.com that is at 88% as of the month of June 2020.

Chris Alexander described the picture as "loud, shrill, spastic, sadistic, stylish, slipshod, stupid and smart in equal measures." in an article for ComingSoon.net. "All very clunky, ramshackle, and kitschy," remarked Scott Weinberg in his Nerdist review, "but that's just part of the'shaggy dog' charm of the production." "it’s got enough blood, guts, simplistic political commentary, scenery chewing and terrible special effects for it to become a cult classic." a website's Zavala wrote.
